FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What does PON stand for?
PON is the abbreviation for "Product of Nature"
What is PON?
These are substrates with a mineral content that are specifically adapted to plants and create optimum plant growth and plant health. This is achieved through the coarse-grained structure and the therefore resulting improved air circulation in the area of the roots. In addition, the plant substrate absorbs water and nutrients, stores them and releases them to the plant as required.
What are the components?
PON substrates are based on lava, pumice and zeolite. In addition to these mineral components, there are also organic components such as pine bark, depending on the area of application.
Are the substrates peat-free?
Yes, for the sake of the environment, all substrates are peat-free.
Can I also use PON in planters without an irrigation system?
Yes, PON is the ideal replacement for conventional potting soil and can be used for complete planting in all planters. LECHUZA-PON or MONOPON in particular are also suitable as a drainage layer or as a substitute for expanded clay.
Can I mix PON with soil?
Yes, our plant substrates can be mixed with conventional soil. BASICPON or MONOPON are best suited here, as these substrates are not pre-fertilized.
Are the substrates pre-fertilized?
Most substrates are already enriched with a slow-release fertilizer. This provides plants with sufficient nutrients for 6 to 8 months before they can be topped up with PON fertilizers. MONOPON, CACTUSPON and the popular BASICPON are unfertilized and can therefore be fertilized individually.
